If you are enrolled with an IPICS University (for the full list click here) you have to be recommended by the IPICS coordinator/lecturer of your institution. Applicants should be at a late stage of their Master studies or early PhD-students. They should already have passed basic IT security courses and must show a keen interest in IT security. They must be fluent in English language and willing to work in an international team and surrounding. Applicants’ grades should be well above average.
Being nominated by an IPICS university you have the benefit of being fully supported. The IPICS organisers will reimburse your travel costs (on basis of a reasonable fare) and provide housing (student dormitories, 2 persons share a room) inlcuding breakfast and light lunch. Funding can only be granted if you take part in the full IPICS, arriving at the latest by Monday (19.07.2010) and leaving Friday (30.07.2010) at the earliest. In order to limit the travel costs you should book the cheapest fare and as early as possible.
Because of reduced funding students will have to pay in advance a participation fee of € 50,-- (for the whole 2 weeks course). Please note that on written request (Email to the organizers) and if appropriate reasons exist the registration fee will be reduced to € 10. In case of late cancellation (less than 1 month before IPICS) or no replacement person is provided the registration fee will not be returned. The organizers reserve the right that in case of extraordinary high travel costs not all travel expenses will be refunded.
In order to be nominated for participation at IPICS 2010 you have to approach your local IPICS lecturer. With his/her consent, please use the application page to apply.
The deadline for the application is 15/05/2010!
The IPICS course ends with a group presentation and requires students to hand in an essay. Topics will be assigned at the end of IPICS. Both, presentation and essay will be the basis for grading students. The IPICS offers upon completion a certificate stating course content, lecturers, duration, and final grade. This certificate will be honored with 4 ECTS points by all IPICS Universities (please discuss details with you respective IPICS lecturer beforehand).
